Hi Folks

Query...

I've combined fitting Matt's new ally throttle tube with new risers under the existing OEM Tee-bars, extended brake line and a replacement throttle cable that broke a couple of weeks ago.

Now I'd seen the "put the kuryakyn one in the freezer and shatter it with g-clamps" method which worked well on the old one I was taking off as a test. BUT the new kury is a different, softer type of plastic and it just deformed rather than shatter after several days in the freezer.....Bugger. !!

So what's the go-to method for removing the plastic throttle tube WITHOUT butchering the rubber of the grip...???

Any info on removing the existing plastic tube from the grips please..?? Thanks....

PS The throttle cable replacement went so smooth I thought I'd missed something.... 30 mins.... with the new cable and barrel installed around the injectors end in 2-3 mins.... just some cables disconnected to give access with long-nosed pliers and a long screwdriver. Fluked it..!!

I'm sure there is a whole section devoted to this on here, try the search function. If the new grips have changed then you may be the first to discover it, good luck.

I did it to a set of Avon grips, posted here somewhere....
As I recall, step 1 was cutting off plastic cable end flush with rubber grip, then softening up grip in hot water. Got a small flat screwdriver between rubber and plastic, squirted some WD40 into the gap and used a drift against closed end of plastic sleeve to push it out of grip. Wasn't very difficult, as I recall....

First, it's Mat with one 't', second it's 'alloy', and third it's aluminum.
Point?

A man of few words...
At least this one only spammed us once with a semi-coherent message, tho I fail to see the point.
We should recycle our bikes in India?

The way things are going, I anticipate a "spam blast". ...when all posts are spam, not good. At that point maybe discontinue the website rather than advertise bullshit to the world.

Maybe more motorcycle posts, eh?
No reason to throw in the towel just because some spammers show up now and then. Ya don't fold at the first sign of adversity, you fight back. Besides, it's probably a deep state plant anyway... ;-)

BTW, Mat's throttle tube is still smooth as silk and brilliant as ever. Thanks, Mat!

Who said throwing in the towel, I say it's totally unacceptable and no action!
